Session 26 Visual Recap – The Master of Terra Glacies
Welcome to our session recap for session 26. I’d like these posts to serve as a nice visual guide to what we played through and experienced during our session. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, I recommend doing so before reading as this post will contain some spoilers. Remember, to get an overall look at our map, check out The Balance Within page
Our menu for the evening
Baked lemon chicken with potatoes and carrots
A simple, all in one dish that’s enough food for six! Grab your chicken, marinate it with some lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Oregano, chili flakes, Herbes de Provence, white balsamic vinegar, and garlic. Let it marinade for a couple of hours and along with the carrots and potatoes (which can be diced or segmented) roast it in the oven. Not only is this easy to make, it frees up a lot of time right before your session, letting you rest before the chaos begins.
Guinness Stout Cake
I’ve made this before and was really in the mood for something that had a little bite to it. Featuring a blend of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger (what really makes this dessert pop), this cake isn’t tough to make and really fits in during the Fall season – something we’re starting to get over here in the northeast. Serve with a little ice cream on top or keep it simple with some cool whip. Just be careful laying it into the baking pan or it might come out a little sad (like mine below – but still, plenty delicious).
Library Martinis
As I mentioned in my last session recap, I’m a fan of gin, and of the D&D cocktail book. This time, I went the path of infusion and infused gin with some sage I have growing out back. Outside of buttered sage sauce and a few chicken recipes, I don’t get the chance to use sage for cooking all that much so I definitely wanted to give this a shot. Take a bottle of gin (preferably one you enjoy, but since you’re changing the flavor, maybe not your most expensive bottle), chop 4/5 pieces of sage and along with a nice long slice of a lemon peel, let it sit for 3 to 4 days. Once ready, add 2 to 3 parts gin with 1 part dry vermouth. I also added a splash of lemon to go with it. Yes, heresy, I know, but think of it as adding a twist to my martini. For extra fancy points, drop a sage or two into your glass.
Introducing the Master of Terra Glacies – Primus Avoir
Over 1000s of years old and sent as an envoy of Chaos. Attempting to trick the group into thinking they’ve disturbed some type of ritual, Primus tries to plane shift Southerby but ultimately fails. After combat ensues, it turns out Primus is actually a Death Slaad, and one of Chaos’ first agents sent to do her bidding.
Battle Map featured in this session – The throne outside the Town of Whispers. What’s that under the ice?
